Our home away from home
Easily one of the most important bits of kit we have on our 630 mile adventure - our tent!
This affordable beauty from Wild Country/Terra Nova has proven to be a robust, spacious and most importantly lightweight tent that we're really happy to be using on such a challenging trek.
As you can see it's pretty spacious inside - even for 2 Fat Lads and their huge 88l rucksacks. The large separate porch area makes the sleeping area not feel cramped.
All of this fits into quite a surprising small volume, easily small enough to fit into our 88l rucksacks without causing any space problems for other items. The best part is how lightweight it is - 3.1kg. We decided that for us, with the weather and ground quality being unpredictable, to also go for the separate ground sheet to keep everything in the porch nice and dry.
Check out the tent directly from Terra Nova using this link:

We've passed the border into Cornwall!
After an intense 6 days we've gained some serious ground and have crossed over from North Devon into Cornwall. Today was really hard between Hartland Quay and Bude but we've made it to the campsite while the sun is still up. Onwards!

Day 3
So it's bright and early on day 3, we've made excellent progress so far so we're hoping to reach Woolacombe today or even Croyde Bay if we find the extra strength to push on.
So far it's been a bit of a shell shock to the system - this path is a very hard one, especially when you are a fat lad with a further 25kg on your back. Because of this we've been a little lazy in the evenings as far as uploading pictures and blogs etc, so we apologise for that. Hopefully we'll get a bit more disciplined from now on.

2 days to go
With only two days to go we've both got really itchy feet - we are looking forward to starting this mammoth trek. All we can do now is try and pack sensibly to keep our backpack weight as low as possible.

Welcome to 2 Fat Lads
Hey everyone,
thanks for visiting our blog, as you can see it's still all new and sparkly with little content. But as the next few weeks and months come you'll see a lot of activity on here.
For those of you that don't already know Craig and David, they are two relatively fat lads that, starting in April 2013, will be walking 630 miles to help to raise money for BLISS, a charity that supports premature and sick babies and their families. It's going to be an immense slog for over a month to finish, but with your support and donations to Bliss, it will make things a lot easier!
Feel free to share our page on Facebook, Twitter etc
We look forward to entertaining you over the next few months!
